Why this site exists

Funchal punishes a vague plan in a few specific ways. The city's two hill cable cars, to Monte and on to the Madeira Botanical Garden, are run by two different companies with two different fare tables, and riding both in one morning wastes half a day in transfers. The Monte toboggan does not return to where it starts: it ends about 2 km away in Livramento, and the operator runs no shuttle back, a fact almost no visitor learns until they are standing there. And the toboggan and the Mercado dos Lavradores both close on Sunday, which can quietly wreck a one-day cruise stop planned around either.

So every price, hour and closed day here is read off the official page of the operator or the city itself and stamped with the date it was read. Where the official source does not state a figure, such as an entry fee for the São Tiago fort's interior or a walking time from the cruise pier to the centre, the page says so instead of guessing.

Where the information comes from

Opening hours, closed days, ticket names and admission prices come from the official sites of the attractions and operators themselves: madeiracablecar.com, montepalacemadeira.com, carreirosdomonte.com, blandyswinelodge.com and museucr7.com, plus funchal.pt, visit.funchal.pt, visitmadeira.com and mercados.cm-funchal.pt for city and market information, and horariosdofunchal.pt, rodoeste.com.pt and aeroportomadeira.pt for the buses, the Aerobus and the airport. Each page prints the source and the check date in its freshness box.

Tour prices, durations, ratings and review counts are the booking platform's own published numbers, read on the date shown on the card. Practical detail about the city, such as which cable car station serves which garden or where the free viewpoints are, is cross-checked against several published sources and the operators' own pages rather than taken from any one of them.

What we do not claim

There is no invented author here, no character who lives in the Zona Velha and no claim that someone from this site rode a particular toboggan on a particular morning. We do not operate or personally conduct these tours, and we do not inspect gardens or audit any operator.

We also hold no bookings. Every Check Availability button hands you to the platform the tour is sold on, where the price, the terms and the cancellation window are theirs. How the site pays for itself

Corrections

Cable car fares change, the toboggan can close for weather with no notice, and museum hours in Funchal move with the season. If a number here is out of date, write to us with what you found and when you were there. A corrected figure is worth more than a defended one.
